Banff Rock

Mt Rundle and Banff town site, Escargo Corner, Mt Norquay

The Banff area offers a great variety of unique multi-pitch lime stone routes.

We guide climbing routes on Tunnel Mountain, Mt Cascade, Mt Norquay, Mt Louis and Castle Mountain.

All the routes in the Banff area start very close to town and have a 30- 60 min hiking approach on well maintained parks trails.

Most of these routes were placed many years ago and are some of the Bow Valleys first multi-pitch long routes.

  • Castle Mountain Tower Route
    Castle Tower Route

    The Castle Tower is one of the areas Five Star classic long routes
    and was first climbed by E. Feuz in 1926.

    Escargo is a six pitch, 5.8 natural gear route up a superb corner where you will actually climb on fossilized snails in the rock.

    The Kain Route is a 5.7 climb on limestone rock and is one of the best routes on Mt Louis.

    First climbed by Conrad Kain in 1916, its an impressive climb with tricky route finding.
