The Lyells

The Lyells guided trips.

Mt Lyell is a remote mountain on the Continental Divide that has five distinct peaks over 11,000 ft. A peak baggers paradise.

The Bush River is to the west, Mons Peak and Glacier to the SW and Mt Forbs to the SE.

Day 1 - We hellicopter up the Glacier Creek drainage and get dropped on the Divide above Icefall Brook. Then we climb and traverse the peaks of Christian and Walter from the south, descending at the Walter/Ernest Col. We head east accross the Lyell Glacier to put in camp on the east moraines.

Day 2 - We climb peaks Rudolph, Edward and Ernest from the north, descending the Edward/Ernest Col and back to camp. Then we move camp down to Glacier Lake for the night, about 3 hours travel.

Day 3 - Pack up camp and hike out the 26km to the highway via the Glacier Lake trail.
Approx 6 hours to the car.

This is the most enjoyable way to see the area and have a chance to climb all the peaks over a three day period.

There is also the option to walk in, it is about 12 -14 hours to get to the east side of the Lyell Glacier, most parties take 1.5 days from the highway.
