The Rockies ice climbing season is well under way. Local ice routes in the Bow Valley area are in great shape. The Ghost River is also in great shape with most of the moderate routes in and fat. Routes such as Murchison and Shades of Beauty along the Ice Field Parkway are in good shape for pure ice.

The mountains around and between Canmore Alberta, west of Galgary, and Jasper Alberta contain 80% of the ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies.  The climbing is world class, easy access and with out the crowds.
